Following my student years studying for my HND in Photography I have been working as a professional photographer since 1996 when I got my first job as a photographer in Bermuda sailing to New York on a weekly basis with a luxury cruise company.

Before setting up Nick Callaghan Photography I was working within many areas of the photographic industry and it wasn’t until between 2001-2003 that the crossover from freelance assisting to receiving my own commissions started to become more frequent. Now based in Haddington, East Lothian and servicing Edinburgh city centre and areas surrounding Edinburgh I can cater for Portrait photography and Studio photography also Interior and Exterior photography.

I am a member of The Association of Photographers, one of the most respected professional photographers associations in the world and highly acknowledged by design and advertising agencies that commission photography. The AOP speak with the combined voice of many and are recognised by legislators, governments and other trade bodies as a credible, authoritative and respected professional association.

So what is a commercial photographer….

The type of photographs a commercial photographer takes are images for businesses that have a product to sell or promote and has a service to sell and raise awareness. The industries in which I receive my work from is on such a diverse scale just some of the areas I have worked in include:

Architecture, Corporate and Business, Food and Drink, Industrial, Interiors, Lifestyle, Manufacturing, People and portraits, Product shots and Studio work.

All of which these business have a need to sell and promote a product and service. I am based in Edinburgh and East Lothian but work throughout the UK for large blue chip companies and sole traders creating images for marketing material such as web sites, advertising, brochures and annual reports.
